Hello sweetie,

It’s time for me to share one of my favourite spring beauty rituals with you, and the best part about this DIY is that takes under 2 minutes to make!

What you need:

Empty Jar

1 cup of Brown Sugar

1/2 cup of Olive or Coconut Oil

Essential Oil for scent

Directions:

Pour half the sugar into the empty jar, add the 1/2 cup of oil, and pour in the remaining sugar. Add a few drops of essential oil to scent the mixture, and then swish the jar around to mix the contents. Super easy, hey? ^_^

Apart from using one yourself,  body scrubs make great cheap and cheerful gifts if you’re low on cash and a friends birthday is coming up, and they’re always appreciated.

You can opt to switch out the sugar and use coffee grounds or oats instead if the sugar granules are too harsh (you can crush the sugar crystals in a mortar and pestle to make them smaller and less abrasive). I have friends who add in spices such as cinnamon and turmeric, and even one who likes to add in banana. I think my next scrub will include cinnamon and honey for scent, and for the beauty benefits they’re said to provide. If you opt to use coconut oil in the scrub it will solidify if it’s cold out. Remedy this by putting the jar in some warm water which will melt the oil.

Once the body scrub is made apply it in the shower and exfoliate your body, then wash it off and say hello to soft spring-ready skin! Since I bought a body scrub from Woolworths ages ago I’ve just been reusing the tub for my DIY version. Just remember to use your current body scrub within six months, and make a new batch after that time. The above recipe should last you on average a month, depending how often you use it.

Let me know what you add to your body scrub in the comments below.

Until next time,
Daughter of Dreams
